Located in a secluded area, on the sunny hillside, about 3 km above the town Viehhofen, amidst the skiing region Saalbach-Hinterglemm. In summer there are sheeps and horses on the alpine pasture. Drive upwards on a 3 km long asphaltic road (in winter you need snow chains), 300 m before reaching the hut starts a crushed rock road (just continue driving). The slope to Viehhofen is just 300m from the cottage. You go there on ski and use the downhill (slope nr. 68) until you reach the town. From there you have a ski bus service to the ski lifts (about 5 km).
DistancesYou are amidst the skiing region Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang! The town Viehhofen as well as the ski school are reachable in 3,5 km. The town Saalbach is about 12 km, a farmed hut with swimming pool just 300 m, a toboggan run 8 km and a cross-country ski run 5 km away from here. Routes for mountain biking and hiking start directly at the hut. The town Zell am See is 12 km.
EquippmentThis hut was built with a lot of personal engagement by the owner himself. Ground floor: shower, bath tub, 2 toilets, snuggery, sofa, satellite TV, dining table, kitchenette with electric cooker, oven, wood stove, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine and staircase to the anteroom, here are 2 additional beds if needed. 3x alcove for sleeping with double bed, 1 room with bunk bed. Free Wi-Fi. Wood-fired central heating. In front of the hut are seats, sunbeds, a barbecue and of course a wonderful view!
Additional charges on-site subject to minor changes:Firewood € 10,-/night, local tourism tax currently € 1,70/person/night, lump-sum € 2,50 -/person/night, bed linen can be rented for € 7,-/set. Please bring your own towels with you.

The summer lifts in Saalbach Hinterglemm enable a quick start to the day of hiking and take you straight up to the start of the most beautiful hiking trails. Those who prefer to pedal can set off on over 400 km of well-signposted bike routes and trails in the Saalbach Hinterglemm bike paradise. Downhillers use one of the 9 mountain railways in Saalbach Hinterglemm, Leogang and Fieberbrunn and choose from over 70 km of trails for their descents! This diversity makes Saalbach Hinterglemm the largest bike region in Austria. There is a multitude of possibilities for families: the Kids Hiking Challenge, themed hiking trails, adventure playgrounds, bathing fun and the attractions at the end of the valley in Saalbach Hinterglemm ensure that you never get bored.

Wir (8 Freunde) hatten eine wunderbare Woche Anfang Januar. Wenn die Schneelage es zulässt (bisher unbeschneite Piste 168) ist die Lage der Hütte einzigartiger Ausgangspunkt für den Skiurlaub. Wir hatten das Glück und konnten Sonne und Schnee genießen. Schneeketten sind obligatorisch im Winter. Herbert ist ein super Gastgeber und hat uns unkompliziert geholfen, als ein Schlüssel versagte. Gerne wieder!
Wir waren zum zweiten Mal 14 Tage hier und erneut begeistert. Traumhafte Kulisse, Herbert, ein äußerst liebenswerter Eigentümer, immer ansprechbar und sehr, sehr hilfsbereit. Die in unmittelbarer Nähe gelegene Hecherhütte ist in jedem Fall sehr zu empfehlen. Ganz besonders die Grillabende im Juli und August. Ein Muß. Wir kommen wieder.
Der Hüttenbesitzer ist einer der zuvorkommensten Menschen die ich kenne. Herbert, der Hüttenbesitzer und die nahe Hercherhütte machen jeden Aufenthalt dort zu einem Traumurlaub!!
Wir verbrachten mit 6 Erwachsenen und einem Hund die Weihnachtswoche in dieser urigen Hütte. Die Lage ist einfach traumhaft, absolut ruhig und eine herrliche Aussicht. Die Hütte ist einfach aber ausreichend eingerichtet. Ganz toll, die 2 Bäder und 2 separaten WCs. Wir sind uns nie in die Quere gekommen. Die Schlafzimmer sind tatsächlich eher Schlafnischen. Etwas hellhörig, aber trotzdem sehr bequem. Dank der Holzheizung war die Hütte kuschelig warm.
